WFDP Convention

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to create a more fair, just, and equitable world ensuring no one is left behind. In 2015, all member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This agenda is comprised of 17 SDGs that provide a shared blueprint for a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future for all.

The UN explains: “A successful sustainable development agenda requires partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society. These inclusive partnerships built upon principles and values, a shared vision, and shared goals that place people and the planet at the center, are needed at the global, regional, national, and local level.”

We believe that financial inclusion is an enabler of the SDGs. We encourage and advance financial inclusion so that people’s lives can be better in many of the ways the SDGs address — from education to health care to housing.

We believe that meaningful, strategic partnerships are vital in ensuring the sustainability of our programs. Strategic and inclusive partnerships at the community, national and international level play a critical role in achieving sustainable, meaningful development.

SDG 17 calls for a global partnership for sustainable development. The goal highlights the importance of global macroeconomic stability and the need to mobilize financial resources for developing countries from international sources, as well as through strengthened domestic capacities for revenue collection.
