I am very proud to officially announce the arrival of the World Fund for Development and Planning in Madrid. This is now our second office in Europe, and we greatly welcome the bridge that Spain and its strategic location represent. A country whose economic and cultural links are utterly visible around the world; a country that plays a very important role within Europe; and a country that is just a few kilometers away from Africa, our final goal.
However, as in all our projects, arriving in Madrid is another beginning. Our next step will be to bring this office to the level of a full branch. This will help the WFDP gain more visibility and strengthen its image and range of action. And by doing so, we will be able to attract more investors and supporters who will contribute to the common effort of our Mission.
We have more than 20 years of experience consolidating peace projects in some of the most conflictive and destitute areas of the world. Our understanding of peace aims at the interconnection between peacemaking and peace-keeping. In order to achieve this, we focus on an array of projects and activities, including health, education, innovation, infrastructure, economic development and women empowerment programs.
It's been a long journey for the WFDP, and we are still moving forward. The path has been successful, and satisfactory, and the reasons for this are the constant challenges we find along the way. We are not only helping and getting stronger. We are learning, getting more experienced and expanding. And now we are in Spain.
